BENECOLŪ Spreads qualify for an FDA-authorized Health Claim:
"Products containing 0.7 grams or more of plant stanol esters per serving, eaten two to three times per day with meals, may reduce the risk of heart disease as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol."

From a primary care cholesterol management standpoint, BENECOLŪ Spreads should be part of initial treatment therapy options, along with behavior modification and dietary control

The American Heart Association 6 and American Diabetes Association 7 Guidelines support the use of plant stanol esters for lowering LDL cholesterol.
